PU filters are widely used in the manufacture filter cartridge, especially for filter cartridges with polyurethane (PU) material as the key component. Applications of its material and structural forms can be summarized as follows:
I.Applicable Filter Core Materials
Polyurethane
Main application: PU filter machine adopts pouring, injection molding and so on to convert liquid PU material into solid filter structure. For example:
Filter end cover: PU elastomer casting, replacing the traditional end cover and rubber sealing ring, simplified the production process (e.g. rotary iron plate or closed die casting technology).
Gasket: Made of imported Japanese polyurethane foaming material and poured in liquid steel mold to ensure sealing and anti-aging properties (such as Jie Diou filter seal).
Filter Core Frame Support: PU material have high elasticity and support multi-layer filtration structure (e.g. HEPA filter core and activated carbon layer skeleton in air purifiers).
Material characteristics: PU material are oil resistance, acid and alkali resistant, high temperature resistant (dynamic 130°C, static 170°C), shock resistant and so on, suitable for harsh working conditions.
Composites
Polyurethane and metal/plastic bonding:
End cover: Thickened steel plate (e.g., standard 0.8mm steel plate) is electrostatic sprayed and combined with PU injection to improve structural strength (e.g., end cap design for Jie Diuo filter).
Outer Filter: Thickened diamond-shaped steel mesh is 3-D polished and combined with a PU frame to prevent damage to filter paper (such as the design of the external filter for Jie Diuo filter).
Polyurethane Adhesion to Filter Paper: PU material acts as the adhesive or protective layer of the filter filter paper, improving the overall stability of the filter (e.g., the PU frame in an air air purifier supports the HEPA filter).
Other filtration media
Polyester fiber/ polypropylene filter material: Multi-folded filter elements are made of polyester or polypropylene filter, end cap are made of polyurethane/plastic gel and are suitable for chemical, electroplating, food and beverage filtration (e.g. folding design of the multi-folded filter element).
Fiberglass: High-efficiency lubricating oil filter adopts glass fiber filter, folding PU end, to achieve solid-liquid separation.
II. Applicable Structural Forms
Roughing/ folding structure
Designed to increase efficiency by increasing the filtration area.
Examples of applications:
Multi-folded Filter Element: 28 mm inner diameter, filtration accuracy 1-50μm. The filter material is folded, and end cap and center rod are glued together with PU glue (according to the specifications of the multi-folded filter element).
Air filter element: The filter paper is processed using laminated paper technology and combined with a PU frame to ensure that the paper does not deform when running at high speed.
Cylindrical/Tubular Structure
Objective: To reach standard filter element dimensions.
Modular structure
Design objective: to support multifunctional integration.
Application Cases:
Hybrid Connection Filter: PU end support simultaneous transmission of Ethernet signals and power (e.g. heavy-duty connectors with the MATEnet plug from TE).
Smart filters: integrated sensors or anti-counterfeiting labels;
